Fencing is considered by some to be the oldest sport known to humanity. Sword 'fencing' was used by the classical civilisations - most notably Egypt, Greece and Rome - as a competitive sport, a pastime, and a training method for their warriors. In the ancient world, fencing was no more complex than a rough duel between two individuals with swords. The exact mode of combat varied, but the duel remained - fighter against fighter in an arena where only one would walk away.

Adult Beginner courses are currently running at Haverstock Fencing Club.

The dates for the 6 week courses in 2008 is:

Tuesday 8 April 2008, followed by 6 weeks intermediate course from 20 May 2008

Thursday 22 May 2008 to 26 June 2008

and the enrolment form is available on the "Downloads" tab of the website.

The adult beginners classes will run from 7:00-8:30 pm at Haverstock School, Haverstock Hill, London, NW3 2BQ. 

All equipment is provided. Click here to see a map. Course dates are not inter-changeable - please ensure you are able to attend all six weeks of the course. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable and are payable in advance of the start of the course.
